Allan Border
(1978 - 1994)
Born: July 27, 1955 in New South Wales, Australia
Inducted: 2009

Allan Border represented Australia in 156 Tests and 273 One-Day Internationals, accumulating a total of 11,174 runs in Tests, a record that was later broken by West Indian Brian Lara.

Known for his stubbornness at the crease and the price he attached to his wicket, Border troubled oppositions for over a decade. Border became the Australia captain after Kim Hughes resigned and later led Australia to the World Cup title in 1987.

Primarily a left-hand batsman, he also tasted success with his slow left-arm orthodox bowling, including one ten-wicket haul and two five-wicket hauls on the way to picking up 39 Test wickets combined with 73 ODI scalps. His best bowling figures in Tests was 11 for 96.
