ICC Dream11 Classic Mode Round 11: Tips and tricks

Williamso

This is the final round of ICC Dream 11 Classic Mode fantasy and presents users one final chance to bump up their points and rankings.

The last match at this venue was the game between Pakistan and Bangladesh. England and New Zealand both played Australia at this venue in the tournament, and both finalists lost their respective matches. England have an underwhelming record at Lord's in ODIs, with 24 wins and 27 losses. New Zealand, meanwhile, have won three of their four matches here.

A few factors to bear in mind for this final round of Classic Mode Fantasy.

  • In the four matches played at Lord's in this World Cup, the team batting first won all matches. So you might want to bulk up on the team that bats first on Sunday.
  • The first innings has generally been high scoring but scoring rates and totals have come down drastically in the second innings. So steering clear of too many batsmen from the chasing side is ideal.

Those changes can be accommodated after the toss but for now, we arrive at a tentative eleven best suited to the conditions and most likely to give you points in plenty in the classic mode of fantasy cricket.

Wicket-keeper: Jos Buttler

Despite recent form not favouring him, Buttler is the more established match-winner of the two keepers available for this contest. Tom Latham has had a suspect tournament and with his strike rate also being concerning, it is better to back Buttler who is due a big knock. The England keeper has an ODI hundred at Lord's and could be used as a floater in the batting line-up if England get off to a good start.

Batsmen: Jonny Bairstow, Jason Roy, Joe Root and Kane Williamson

None of New Zealand's batsmen aside from Kane Williamson have over 400 runs in this World Cup. The New Zealand skipper has made 548 runs at an average of 91.33 and is a must-have in your fantasy side mainly because of his consistency. In this World Cup, he has crossed 40 runs seven out of eight times he has batted.

England's top-order is the most dominant in this World Cup and the team's strike rate of over 100 is the best by any team. Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow have four century stands this World Cup and the two openers are absolute must picks in your fantasy side. Joe Root lends stability to England's madness and should give you enough points if New Zealand do manage to breakthrough early on.

All-rounder: Ben Stokes

Ben Stokes, Colin de Grandhomme and James Neesham are good choices as all-rounders but Stokes has been the standout player in this category. As he showed with his exceptional half-century against Australia in the group stage, Stokes makes runs when the going gets tough. With New Zealand boasting a potent bowling attack, Stokes' resistance could come handy. He adds value in the field and with the ball and is a great pick in fantasy terms.

Bowlers: Chris Woakes, Jofra Archer, Matt Henry, Trent Boult and Lockie Ferguson

All of the five seamers we have chosen have over 10 wickets in this World Cup. The more wickets a bowler takes, the higher the points he fetches in fantasy cricket and this alone gives wicket-taking bowlers a huge advantage in fantasy teams. Jofra Archer, England's top wicket-taker, and Lockie Ferguson, New Zealand's highest wicket-taker, are as such, must picks. Trent Boult, Matt Henry and Chris Woakes can make the new ball talk which gives them a good chance of picking up early wickets. The Lord's slope and the seam movement expected off the deck should suit all three bowlers. An alternative choice in this category would be Mark Wood for Matt Henry.
