Mark Watt’s chit paper

Scotland’s Mark Watt had turned heads at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup last year when he brought out a chit paper from his pocket to quickly glance at the plans he had drawn up for each batter.

A similar note came out on Friday in Bulawayo during the Cricket World Cup Qualifier clash against UAE that Scotland went on to win.

Hasaranga on a roll

Wanindu Hasaranga is on a roll in the Cricket World Cup Qualifier, reeling off his second five-wicket haul in as many matches as Sri Lanka began their campaign with two thumping wins.

"This is a very good wicket to bowl for leg spinners,” Hasaranga commented on his performance after the match. “I tried to bowl at the stumps. I think that's why I got wickets.”

CWCQ – The format

Two groups, each made up of five teams, play a round-robin series within their group.

The top three teams in each group then progress to the CWC Qualifier Super Six stage, while carrying over their results from the two matches against the other teams to advance from their initial group.

The teams that progress to the Super Six stage will then play the three teams to advance from their opposite group to complete the pivotal match-ups.

The top two teams at the end of the Super Six stage will book their ticket to the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 in India later this year, while also facing off in a CWC Qualifier Final on July 9.
