Watch all the biggest upsets from the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup
Netherlands' and Afghanistan's victories over highly-fancied opponents are far from the first shock results at the tournament, as we look at more Cricket World Cup upsets:
The Netherlands stunned South Africa last year at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in Australia and history repeated in Dharamsala as the Dutch recorded another famous victory.
South Africa entered the match in third place on the MRF Tyres ODI Team Rankings and the Netherlands were a whopping 11 spots behind them in 14th.

Match highlights as Netherlands opened their account in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 with a stunning upset victory over South Africa in Dharamsala.
But inspired by a memorable performance from inspirational captain Scott Edwards and veteran all-rounder Roelof van der Merwe, the Netherlands pulled off a heist that provided them some hope of remaining in the race for a semi-final berth.
Edwards led from the front with an unbeaten 78* as the Netherlands posted a respectable total of 245/8 in a match reduced to just 43 overs per side, and his bowlers provided the support required as the Proteas' high-profile batting order never clicked in reply.
Colin Ackermann (1/16) got the ball rolling with the key wicket of Quinton de Kock and the likes of Logan van Beek (3/60), Paul van Meekeren (2/40), Bas de Leede (2/36) and van der Merwe (2/34) all played their part as the Netherlands clinched a memorable triumph.
The upset victory was only Afghanistan’s second-ever triumph in a men’s Cricket World Cup - and certainly their biggest at the showpiece event - as they outplayed the defending champions in all areas of the game.
England had made a stuttering start to their title defence but were expected to brush aside Afghanistan to kickstart their tournament ahead of tougher tests to come.
But Afghanistan had other ideas as opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz smashed 80 from 57 balls, while Mujeeb Ur Rahman was crucial to reviving the innings with 28 late runs in a total of 284.
Mujeeb then backed up with 3/51 in a Player of the Match performance as the Afghanistan spinners claimed eight of England’s 10 wickets to fall in a rousing 69-run victory.

The Flower brothers - Andy and Grant - were the backbone of the Zimbabwe innings that reached a total of 252, while India paid the price for wayward bowling that included 21 wides and 16 no balls.
The highly-fancied India were cruising toward their target at 174/4 in the 33rd over before a mini-collapse briefly put them on the ropes.
India took back control to only need seven runs with three wickets and plenty of deliveries in hand, until Zimbabwe quick Henry Olonga struck to claim all the remaining scalps in the one over.

England have been on the receiving end of several World Cup shocks over the years but their clash with rivals Ireland looked a formality at the end of the first innings.
A run-a-ball 92 to Jonathan Trott and quickfire fifties to Kevin Pietersen and Ian Bell had put England in command with a total of 327.
The target looked well out of reach for Ireland when they slumped to 111/5 but an incredible innings from Kevin O'Brien turned the match around.
O'Brien smashed 113 runs from 63 balls to lead Ireland toward a shock three-wicket victory that was only secured in the final over of the match.

Ireland stunned their close neighbours England with an upset victory at the 2011 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup.
Bangladesh edged to a total of 223 runs on the back of hard-fought innings from Akram Khan (42) and Shahriar Hossain (39), as Pakistan spinner Saqlain Mushtaq did the damage with 5/35.
Pakistan’s chase then fell apart quickly as they lost wickets at regular intervals and limped to 42/5.
Captain Wasim Akram and Azhar Mahmood (both 29) tried to resurrect the innings but were left with too much to do as Pakistan fell 62 runs short of preventing the upset result.

West Indies were still a powerhouse featuring greats of the game like Brian Lara, Richie Richardson, Curtly Ambrose and Courtney Walsh when they faced a surging Kenya.
The match looked like following the more likely script when Zimbabwe were bowled out for 166 but the ending was still to be written.
The West Indies innings never got going as several batters made starts but they could only put together a highest partnership of 20 runs while eventually being all out for a paltry 93.
World Cup Upsets: Kenya v West Indies | CWC 1996
Kenya stunned the world when they upset the powerful West Indies at the 1996 edition of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup.
A star-studded South Africa line-up were on the charge toward a semi-final berth when they faced rivals Zimbabwe.
Neil Johnson opened the Zimbabwe innings and top-scored with 76 to lead his side to a total of 233 that livened up the contest.
The all-rounder then took the new ball and dismissed Gary Kirsten with the first delivery of the innings to spark a stunning collapse that left South Africa struggling on 40/6.
Shaun Pollock and Lance Klusener (both 52) gave South Africa some hope but they would eventually fall 48 runs short as Zimbabwe clinched a famous victory.

Sourav Ganguly played a lone hand for India at the top of the order while wickets tumbled around him.
The opener reached 66 to at least ensure India set a competitive target of 192 but only had Yuvraj Singh (47) offer any support of note as the door was left open for a Bangladesh upset.
Fifties to Tamim Iqbal and Shahriar Nafees boosted Bangladesh’s chances, while an impressive Shakib Al Hasan - who was making his Cricket World Cup debut - helped guide them home.
The clash with Bangladesh kicked off a dire campaign for India as they finished bottom of their group and failed to progress to the Super 8 stage.

Kenya were on home soil in Nairobi when they shocked the 1996 champions Sri Lanka.
Kennedy Otieno was the key to a decent total of 210 as the opener raced to 60, while Sri Lanka spinner Muthiah Muralidaran threatened throughout and finished with 4/28 from 10 overs.
Sri Lanka’s top order had the game in control as they cruised to 71/2 but Kenya leg-spinner Collins Obuya then turned the match with a flurry of wickets.
A dazzling display from Obuya produced 5/24 in a match-defining spell that would also remain his best bowling figures throughout his 104 ODIs.
