World Cup memories: Bangladesh v Windies
Four World Cup clashes have seen three Windies wins and one no result, a record Bangladesh will be looking to change when they meet in Taunton next year.
**21 May 1999 (Dublin)**Windies won by 7 wickets
Bangladesh and the Windies first met at the Cricket World Cup during Bangladesh’s debut at the tournament in 1999.
After winning the toss and electing to bat in Dublin, Bangladesh were blown away by the Windies’ bowlers - namely Courtney Walsh – who finished with 4/25.
Despite a half-century from Mehrab Hossain and 45 from Naimur Rahman, the Tigers were bowled out for 182.
In reply, 51 from Ridley Jacobs and 53* from Jimmy Adams helped the Windies reach the target with seven wickets to spare.
**18 February 2003 (Benoni)**No result
Rain robbed the Windies of another World Cup win against Bangladesh when they met in 2003.
Brian Lara (46), captain Carl Hooper (45) and Ricardo Powell (50) helped the Windies reach 244/9 after 50 overs.
In reply, early wickets left Bangladesh on 32/2 before the rain came.
**19 April 2007 (Bridgetown)**Windies won by 99 runs
Another strong all-round performance helped the Windies beat Bangladesh by 99 runs at the 2007 World Cup.
Player of the Match Ramnaresh Sarwan top-scored with an unbeaten 91, while Shivnarine Chanderpaul hit 50 as the Windies finished on 230/5.
Only two Bangladesh batsmen scored more than 16 in reply as they were skittled for just 131. Daren Powell took three wickets, with Corey Collymore, Dwayne Bravo and Chris Gayle all taking a brace.
