Pakistan to host Sri Lanka, England for tri-series action

A crucial ICC World Test Championship series and a T20I series against Sri Lanka, as well as an ODI tri-series that also features England on the cards.

Pakistan will host Sri Lanka and England in an ODI tri-series in October. The series featuring the three former world champions will serve as crucial preparation on the road to next year’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.

Starting October 18, with hosts Pakistan facing Sri Lanka in the opener, the tri-series will be staged in Rawalpindi and Lahore, with the final taking place on October 31. 

Following the tri-series, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will also compete in a two-match ICC World Test Championship series. The action will begin with the first Test starting November 9 in Rawalpindi, followed by the series decider in Lahore from November 17.

A momentous ceremony in Johannesburg saw the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027 venues and brand announced.

Sri Lanka are currently trailing 1-0 against India in a two-match series at home, having been defeated by the visitors in the first Test in Galle.

They are placed sixth in the WTC Standings while Pakistan are eighth following a 1-1 series draw against the West Indies. The team are currently on the tour of England for a three-Test series, which is also a part of the ongoing World Test Championship cycle.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka will also participate in a three-match T20I series in the lead-up to the ODI tri-series. Played between October 9 and 13, the series will be hosted in Rawalpindi.

The two teams had previously locked horns in the format back in February in a thrilling ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 clash.
