Zimbabwe name squad for ODI, T20I series against West Indies
Josephine Nkomo will continue to lead hosts in a white-ball series comprising three ODIs and three T20Is starting this week in Harare.
Zimbabwe Cricket have unveiled a 16-player squad for the upcoming home three ODIs and as many T20Is against West Indies at home.
Josephine Nkomo will continue to lead the side across the six-match assignment, with selectors largely sticking with the group that took on South Africa in the recently concluded T20I series.
Experienced players Nomvelo Sibanda, Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano, Modester Mupachikwa and Sharne Mayers all form the core of the squad.
Zimbabwe squad : Josephine Nkomo (C), Beloved Biza, Olinder Chare, Kudzai Chigora (ODIs only), Francisca Chipare (T20Is only), Chiedza Dhururu, Nyasha Gwanzura, Tendai Makusha, Michelle Mavunga, Sharne Mayers, Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano, Modester Mupachikwa, Christina Mutasa, Kelis Ndhlovu, Loryn Phiri, Nomvelo Sibanda.
Loreen Tshuma is unavailable owing to injury, while Lorraine Pemhiwa and Lindokuhle Mabhera drop out to make room for Chiedza Dhururu and Olinder Chare.
Two players have been picked for just one format: Kudzai Chigora, who will feature in the ODIs, while Francisca Chipare is included for the T20I leg alone.
The West Indies series is the latest in what has been a packed calendar year for Zimbabwe, who have already played ICC Women's Championship matches in New Zealand and Pakistan, besides hosting South Africa for a five-match T20I series in Bulawayo.
The three ODIs, which are part of the ongoing ICC Women's Championship, will be played at Harare Sports Club starting September 24. The caravan will then move to the Takashinga Cricket Club for the T20Is.
