Afghanistan all-rounder sanctioned for South Africa incident

Mohammad Nabi hit with a sanction by the ICC following an incident in Afghanistan's match against South Africa.

Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi has been fined 15 per cent of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Group D match against South Africa.

Nabi was found to have breached Article 2.4 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “Disobeying an Umpire’s instruction during an International Match.”

The incident occurred at the start of the 14th over of Afghanistan’s innings, where Nabi engaged with umpires over a wrist band worn by South Africa pacer Lungi Ngidi.
