India and England will battle it out for a spot in the final of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 at Mumbai's iconic Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.

This is the third time in a row at the two teams are clashing in the final four. While England won by 10 wickets in 2022, India coasted to a 68-run win two years go. On both occasions, the winner of the match went on to clinch the championship.

Having started at the tournament favourites, India have largely lived up to the billing. Though their 12-match winning streak at the T20 World Cup came to an end against South Africa, the defending champions came back strong, dominating West Indies and Zimbabwe in the other Super Eight clashes.

England, meanwhile, have shown a lot of resilience and managed to win six out of seven matches so far.

Scorecard

After a match-winning 97 not out against West Indies, Sanju Samson has carried on from where he left off. He got going from the first over, hitting back-to-back boundaries to Jofra Archer to give India the early momentum.

Samson was given a life at 15, when England captain Harry Brook put down a simple catch at mid-on, off Archer's bowling.

India did lose the early wicket of Abhishek Sharma. The southpaw once again fell to an off-spinner as Will Jacks had him miscue to Phil Salt.

Having ended powerplay on 67/1, the defending champions continued to press on. Samson got stuck into a flighted delivery by Liam Dawson, carving it inside out over extra cover for six to bring up his half-century in just 26 balls.

At the other end, Ishan Kishan also dealt in boundaries, hitting two sixes and four fours as he scored 39 off 18 balls. India plundered 39 runs in the eighth and ninth over combined. In the run frenzy, it may have been a shot too many as Kishan skied a ball to long-off.

Their second-wicket partnership of 97, from just 45 balls, powered India to 119/2 in 10 overs.

Earlier, Brook won the toss and elected to field against India in the semi-final in Mumbai. No change in the Indian playing XI. England brought in pacer Jamie Overton for leggie Rehan Ahmed.
