Sri Lanka skipper Dasun Shanaka fought brilliantly with 3 sixes and one four to take the match close against Pakistan at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026.
Having been put in to bat first, Pakistan laid the foundation for a strong total, thanks to the highest-ever stand in the tournament’s history.
While Zaman, who marked a return back at the top of the order, scored 84 off 42 deliveries, Farhan powered his way to a second ton in the ongoing tournament.
This marked the first instance of a batter scoring two centuries at a Men’s T20 World Cup.
Farhan also surpassed former India captain Virat Kohli to notch the highest runs in a single edition of the tournament.

Sahibzada Farhan was the hero for Pakistan again as his 100 off 60 helped them overcome Sri Lanka at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026.
In their response with the bat, Sri Lanka managed to get past the 147-run mark in the 16th over, courtesy of a resilient partnership between Pavan Rathnayake and Dasun Shanaka.
Shanaka went on to take the game deep, scoring an unbeaten 76 but Sri Lanka eventually missed out on an epic win by five runs.
New Zealand now join England and South Africa among the semi-finalists. England confirmed their spot by winning all three of their Super 8 games, while South Africa remain unbeaten and will face Zimbabwe tomorrow in their final Super 8 fixture.
The final spot will be up for the grabs as India face West Indies in the last Super-8 contest on Sunday in Kolkata.
