The USA will depart Zimbabwe and the ICC Under-19 Men's Cricket World Cup with their heads held high after finishing their campaign on a high.

Their comfortable seven-wicket win over Scotland will both leave a good taste in their mouth while also have players viewing their loss to Bangladesh, which denied them a Super Six berth, as a missed opportunity.

Utkarsh Srivastava and Adnit Jhamb aced a brilliant chase against Scotland.

After missing out with the bat against both India and New Zealand, the latter of those matches eventually abandoned due to rain, routine went out the window for batter Adnit Jhamb, who finished his campaign with a majestic 116* off 93 balls to anchor their successful run chase against the Scots.

Jhamb turned his fortunes around against Bangladesh, in the United States' third group game, scoring a 68 off the back of hard work along with a fresh approach.

"The first two games, I was trying what I used to do, but it wasn't working, so I thought, 'screw all these routines, I'm going to eat a chicken burger,' so I (did that) and scored (68) against Bangladesh, so I'm like, 'I'm doing the same thing, wear the same clothes, eat the same thing,' and here I am," Jhamb said after their win against Scotland.

Adnit Jhamb hit 116* off merely 93 balls.

Pre-match meals aside, it was no fluke that Jhamb completed his World Cup campaign with a couple of knocks he will fondly look back on.

"For me, the more balls I play, the better I feel, so before the game, I spent close to 35 minutes in the nets, did the same thing against Bangladesh, did the same thing in the other two games, so I'm very strict on my routine before the game, whether I score or not," he added.

The 16-year-old doesn't just dream of representing the USA national team one day, but has lofty - and specific - aspirations.

"In a few years time, I see myself scoring a hundred for the US and being the youngest to do it," he declared.

And captain Utkarsh Srivastava certainly doesn't think those goals are beyond him. Asked to select two players he believes are the next to make their debut for the USA's national side, Srivastava chose Jhamb without hesitation as one to watch.

"Adnit is probably one of them," Srivastava said.

Utkarsh Srivastava played a handy knock of 52 in USA's win.

Jhamb spent plenty of time in the middle with Srivastava (52 off 52), putting on 129 for the third-wicket against Scotland, watching one of the country's most promising young talents come of age in real time.

A reflective Srivastava shared details of a pre-tournament moment that helped shape their campaign.

"We had a team meeting right before the India game and for each player we had individual goals and ... three of us achieved it, the others had phases, they did some things, but three people achieved (their individual goals), which was a very good thing," the captain said.

Scotland captain Thomas Knight admitted consistency is what let his side down at their winless World Cup campaign, despite there being plenty of positives for the group to reflect on.

"There (are) a people that have reached what they wanted in moments, but I don't think anyone (did) it for long enough, or as long as they would've wanted," Knight said post-game.

"There were a few lovely spells of bowling, a few lovely innings, Theo Robinson today (being) a prime example. But I think everyone leaves wanting a little bit more from ourselves, but there's definitely a lot of cricket left to play in this group and a lot of people that will go on to do big things in the game, so we've got a long way to go."

Teams that reached the Super Six phase of the World Cup will continue battling for a semi-finals berth, with the knockout stage starting on February 3 in Zimbabwe.
