CWC25 Warm-ups Day 3: England edge past Australia, South Africa defeat Pakistan 

While Capsey led England's chase of 247 against Australia, South Africa beat Pakistan by four wickets.

England chased down Australia’s 247 with four wickets in hand and 33 balls to spare in their World Cup warm-up clash, thanks to a composed 88* from Alice Capsey.

England found themselves in early trouble at 32/3 after 7.1 overs as Australia’s bowlers made early inroads with the new ball. However Sophia Dunkley took charge, scoring a vital half century, adding stability alongside Capsey. After Dunkley’s dismissal, Emma Lamb (60) joined Capsey to keep the chase on track.

Capsey's knock included 13 boundaries with her key partnerships in the middle order proving decisive as England eased to victory, making it two out of two wins in their warm-up fixtures.

England register a statement win over defending champions Australia in their ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 warm-up fixture.

Earlier after England won the toss and decided to bowl first, Australia were all out for 247 in 34.4 overs. Phoebe Litchfield set the tone at the top with a quick-paced 71 from 48 balls, that included 13 boundaries and a six before falling to Sarah Glenn.

Ashleigh Gardner chipped in with 28, while Beth Mooney (59*) steadied the middle order with an unbeaten half century. Despite Mooney’s efforts, Australia kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were eventually bowled out under 35 overs.

Glenn was the pick of England’s bowlers snapping five wickets, while Lauren Bell and Emily Arlott also struck crucial blows.

Australia will turn their attention to their first World Cup game against New Zealand on October 2, while England will clash against South Africa on October 4.

PAKISTAN VS SOUTH AFRICA, Scorecard

South Africa overcame an early scare to secure a four-wicket win over Pakistan in their World Cup warm-up, chasing down 229 with 59 balls to spare.

South Africa were rocked early in their chase, when Diana Baig scalped two wickets, leaving them 27/3 inside six overs. The response came through Sune Luus and Anneke Bosch, who added a 100-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

South Africa edged past Pakistan by four wickets in their ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 warm-up fixture.

Chloe Tryon ensured there were no further hiccups for the Proteas Women after losing five wickets with 151 on board, guiding South Africa home with unbeaten 45. sealing a comfortable win with almost ten overs to spare.

Pakistan, batting first, were bowled out for 229 in 46 overs. Captain Fatima Sana top-scored with a fluent 64 while Sidra Amin and Sidra Nawaz made useful contributions at the top, being involved in crucial partnerships. However, Pakistan struggled for momentum as wickets fell at regular intervals.

Ayabonga Khaka and Masabata Klass secured two wickets each for South Africa.

The result will boost South Africa’s confidence heading to of their opening clash against England on October 4 while Pakistan will take positives from Fatima Sana’s batting and Diana Baig’s fiery opening spell as they begin their World Cup campaign against Bangladesh on October 3.
