Australia - Beth Mooney
Beth Mooney’s 2025 numbers speak for themselves. She has passed double figures in every ODI this year and smashed one of the fastest hundreds in women’s ODIs against India. Mooney has become the calm head in Australia’s batting order. In the 2025 series against India, she made 233 runs in three innings, confirming her ability to dominate quality attacks. Her strength is pacing an innings which makes her vital in matches where the pressure is intense. Mooney has the temperament to bat through and anchor an Australian win.

Bangladesh - Sharmin Akhter Supta
Sharmin Akhter has been Bangladesh’s most consistent batter in 2025, passing 20 in seven of her eight ODI innings during qualifiers and finishing with 94* against Thailand. At 29 she brings experience to a young side and is Bangladesh’s leading run-scorer over the past year. What stands out is her ability to occupy the crease, something Bangladesh will need if they are to be competitive in their second World Cup appearance. Bangladesh take on Pakistan in their opening game and her clash against Diana Baig will be one to watch.

Sharmin Akhter played a wide range of front foot shots on her way to 71 off 101 in Bangladesh's warm-up match against Sri Lanka at the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025.
England - Natalie Sciver-Brunt
England’s captain is more than just their star all-rounder. Sciver-Brunt has scored four fifties in ODIs this year and is currently second in the ICC ODI Batter Rankings. She averages more than 40 in her career and has a strike rate above 90 which makes her a rare batter who can both stabilise and accelerate. One of her finest World Cup knocks came in 2022 when she scored 148* in the final against Australia. That ability to rise on the big stage is what makes her England’s most reliable batter. This time her test will be against spin on slow pitches in Sri Lanka and India and she will also have to outscore her peers if England want to keep pace.

India - Smriti Mandhana
Smriti Mandhana enters the tournament at the peak of her powers. She reclaimed the top spot in the ICC ODI Batter Rankings earlier this year and has scored more than 800 runs in 2025 alone at an average above 60. Her four hundreds this year include a match-winning 117 against Australia in September. Mandhana already has over 4,800 ODI runs in her career and has become the most reliable opener India have produced since Mithali Raj. What makes her so important is not just the volume of runs but the timing of them. She has been India’s best player in high pressure chases and her ability to negotiate the new-ball before attacking spinners in the middle overs is unmatched.

New Zealand - Georgia Plimmer
Plimmer is still in the early years of her career but has already played match-winning knocks. Her 112 against Sri Lanka in March set up a series victory and she followed it with another century for New Zealand A against England A. At just 20 years old, she has become New Zealand’s second-highest run-scorer in the past year. The challenge for Plimmer will be facing top-class new-ball bowlers like Renuka Singh and Megan Schutt. How she handles the pressure of a global event could go a long way in determining New Zealand’s fortunes.

Pakistan - Sidra Amin
Sidra Amin has been relentless in 2025, scoring back-to-back centuries against South Africa in September. In seven ODIs this year, she has crossed fifty more often than not and has been her country’s leading run-getter. At 33, Sidra is finally combining experience with productivity and her calm approach at the top of the order will be beneficial for Pakistan. Amin's ability to take on the best pacers will be fascinating to watch.

South Africa - Marizanne Kapp
Marizanne Kapp returned to ODI cricket this year after being rested and immediately found form, scoring 121* against Pakistan in September. A veteran of more than 130 ODIs since her debut in 2009, Kapp brings both experience and balance to South Africa’s order. While Laura Wolvaardt is their long-term anchor, Kapp’s ability to shift gears in the middle overs adds an edge.

Sri Lanka - Harshitha Samarawickrama
Sri Lanka’s most dependable batter in recent years has been Harshitha Samarawickrama. She was their leading ODI run scorer in the last year and has already made four fifties in 2025, including 77 against South Africa. At 27 she is entering her prime and has the technique to counter pace and spin alike. With Chamari Athapaththu often tasked with fast starts, Samarawickrama provides balance in the middle.
