Injury scare for Bangladesh in CWC25 contest against Sri Lanka
Big scare for Bangladesh during the first innings of their ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup outing.
Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana Joty returned back to bat after she was forced off the pitch from sustaining a blow while keeping the stumps in the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 fixture against Sri Lanka.
The incident occurred in the 47th over of Sri Lanka’s innings when Joty copped a blow off a delivery that bounced more than she had expected.

The Bangladesh captain went down on the pitch, and received immediate treatment from the team physio.
She eventually walked off the pitch and was replaced by Rubya Haider as the substitute wicket-keeper. The Bangladesh skipper returned to action later in the second innings with Bangladesh three wickets down for 44, in pursuit of 203.
Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are competing in what is a must-win contest for the two teams. With two points each, and two games in hand, both the sides need to win their remaining fixtures in order to remain in contention for a semi-finals spot.
Earlier, Sri Lanka skipper Chamari Athapaththu had won the toss and elected to bat first in what is the first fixture of the tournament at Dr DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
Powered by Hasini Perera, who top-scored with 85 off 99 deliveries, and a valuable contribution from Athapaththu (46), Sri Lanka put 202 runs on the board.
For Bangladesh, Shorna Akter (3/27) and Rabeya (2/39) were the pick of the bowlers as they eye to get back to winning ways.
