White Ferns activate 'move on' mission in Guwahati at CWC25

Melie Kerr has assured fans New Zealand remain in high spirits as they aim to end their winless run at the World Cup against Bangladesh.

If anyone is in need of an ICC Women's Cricket World Cup win it's New Zealand.

One of just two teams yet to taste victory at the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup, the White Ferns play Bangladesh in Guwahati, looking to stay within sight of the semi-finals mix as the mid-point of the group stage nears.

So far they have lost to Australia and South Africa, two quality opponents that will undoubtedly have New Zealand primed for a sharp performance.

"Yeah, obviously it's not the way you want to start a tournament with two losses, but the dressing room's good," Kerr told media.

"I think we've had some really good conversations and there's been still a lot of positives to take out from the first two games. With tournaments, you can't dwell on things. You've got to move on. And yes, you want to learn from what you can do better, but also remembering the stuff that we've done really well to keep trying to continue to do. And you've got to stay positive because there's always a game around the corner and we know that we're still really in this World Cup.

"It's about trying to sum up conditions really quickly. But having a couple of days to train here, there has been quite a bit of turn and bounce in the nets, which is exciting for my bowling. But then on the other hand with batting, it's just being really disciplined in the best way to play spin.

"(Bangladesh) are a spin heavy attack and they've had a lot of teams in trouble as well throughout this tournament we've seen. So it's one where (we're) a little bit excited for bowling, but probably got to work a little bit harder with the bat."

New Zealand and Bangladesh will be looking to get their ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 campaign back on track after defeats in recent fixtures.

The favoured White Ferns are very wary of Bangladesh, particularly their bowling attack. The Tigers have split their results so far with a comfortable win against Pakistan and a loss to England in what was a competitive contest.

"I think at this World Cup every team can win on their day so you can't take any game lightly," Kerr continued.

"I think what they did against England, I thought they bowled really well and we obviously have done our scouting and I think they've got a really good bowling attack and being accurate on these wickets and trying to build pressure is something all teams are trying to do. And Bangladesh did that really well against England which put them into a little bit of a hole which Heather Knight got them out of.

"Every team's going to be a challenge. It's a long format so that's even more of a challenge because mentally you've got to be switched on and do things for longer. But I think it's going to be a really great game and there are quality sides so we've got to be at our best to beat them."
