Carter hit the ground running at the tournament, making another unbeaten of 54 in Scotland's first match against Uganda.

It means Carter has scored a total of 184 runs without being dismissed, and captain Sarah Bryce has been thrilled with the contributions made by the youngster.

"Darcey's just done brilliantly well, hopefully she can keep it going because it's great to see someone so young doing so well," Bryce told Cricket Scotland.

"It was another tight one (today), Tanzania played brilliantly and really put us to the test, but we're delighted to come out with another win."

Carter made her senior Scotland debut against Thailand in 2023 and has batted in a number of different positions through 26 T20I contests and has only settled in as opener in recent times with regular top-order performers Kathryn Bryce and Saskia Horley sitting out the new eight-team event that is aiming to provide Associate Members with more exposure at international level.

The move to the top has paid dividends for Scotland as the European side remain the only unbeaten team at the Emerging Trophy event and sit on top of the standings with the three wins.

Scotland clinch a win against Uganda to open their account in the ICC Women's Emerging Nations Trophy 2025.

Sterner tests await the Scots as they gear up for upcoming matches against Namibia (November 25), Papua New Guinea (November 26), Netherlands (November 28) and hosts Thailand (November 30) as they try and become the first winners of the new ICC tournament.

And while Carter has been the steady head at the top of Scotlnd's batting order in Thailand, skipper Sarah Bryce indicated it has been their strong contribtons from the entire bowling group that has been their strength so far.

"I think we've been exceptional at the back-end with the ball, so credit to our bowlers for sticking at it in those tough situations," Bryce said.

"I think that's great to see, when the pressure is on they've really stood up and that's been really important."
