The ICC Dream 11 fantasy league offers fans an incredible chance to enjoy this World Cup season while flaunting their cricket knowledge competing with friends and family to win prizes.
The season long fantasy will keep fans occupied for the entire duration of the World Cup and involves picking one team for the World Cup while trading between rounds and changing captain and vice-captain for each round.
Like with cricket these days, nothing is fair unless you are given an incentive every now and then and ICC Dream 11 does just that with the 'free hits' for the classic mode of fantasy cricket.
Free hits are an important part of ICC Dream 11's season fantasy. These are a set of chips that can be used to boost fantasy points for a single match of any particular round. There are three free hits available to be used during the course of the season: Super Sixes, Bowling Machine and Star Skipper.
Free hits are refreshed at the beginning of each round which means that you need to use up all four free hits at least once during a round to maximise your scope for points.
Only one free hit can be used per match and a particular free hit can be used once in a round. Once chosen, the free hit cannot be changed. If you choose not to use a free hit, it will not be carried forwarded to the next round.
Now, to explain the three free hits at your disposal.
Super Sixes: The player you apply this free hit to gets 5X bonus points for each six they hit in the match. The bonus point will not apply to the runs the particular batsman makes. It will only apply to the points acquired for sixes.
For instance, a normal player in your team earns 3 points for a six (1 X 6 = 6). But if you apply Super Sixes free hit to a player, every six will earn 11 points (1 X 6 + 1 X 5 = 11).
Bowling Machine: When applied to a player, this free hit will fetch 2X points for every wicket he takes. This of course excludes run outs. It is to be noted that the free hits will fetch double points for every wicket taken but the multiplier isn't applicable when a bowler takes four or five wicket hauls.
For instance, if a normal player in your team takes a wicket, he earns 12 (12x1 = 12) points. If this free hit is applied to him, he will instead earn 24 (1 X 12 X 2) points.
Star Skipper: This applies specifically to your fantasy team captain.
When the Star Skipper free hit is applied to your skipper for a match, he will earn triple points instead of the usual 2X multiplier for captains.
For instance, if you decide to apply the Star Skipper free hit for an India-England match to your round captain for a particular round (say, Rohit Sharma), his points for that particular match will be tripled instead of being doubled.
It is to be noted, though, that the Star Skipper free hit is applicable only for the captain. If your captain is not playing in a particular match and you apply the free hit to him, it will remain wasted. The Star Skipper free hit is applicable only for your fantasy captain for the round. The 3X multipliers will only apply to the particular match in which you apply the free hit.
