Player Bio

Across 62 Test matches for England, Ted Dexter put fast bowlers around the world to the sword with impressive regularity.

He famously blasted 70 runs off just 73 balls against a West Indies attack featuring ICC Hall of Famer Wes Hall and the great Charlie Griffith after coming out to bat with England in trouble at 0/1. While such aggression was common from Dexter when counter-attacking, he was equally capable of settling in for the long haul.  Of the nine centuries he scored for England, six went past 140.

Across a 10-year-career from 1958 to 1968, Dexter scored 4502 runs at 47.89 in Test cricket and finished his playing days with more than 20,000 first-class runs to his name.
