ADEEB, KHUZAIMA AND PAUDEL FINED FOR BREACHING ICC CODE OF CONDUCT

United Arab Emirates (UAE) players Adeeb Usmani and Khuzaima Tanveer, and Nepal’s Rohit Paudel, have all been fined for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the final of the Asian Cricket Council Men’s Premier Cup in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday. 

Adeeb and Paudel were both fined 15 per cent of their match fee for the same incident after they were found to have breached Article 2.4 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “Disobeying an Umpire’s instruction during an International Match.” 

The incident occurred in the 31st over of Nepal’s innings, when Adeeb and Paudel got into a heated argument and did not adhere to the instructions of the umpires, who were trying to diffuse the situation. 

Khuzaima was fined 10 per cent of his match fee for a different incident, after he was found to have breached Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match.” 

This incident was in the 46th over of the UAE’s innings, when Khuzaima hit the stumps with his bat after being dismissed. 

In addition, one demerit point has been added to the three players’ disciplinary records, none of whom had a previous offence in a 24-month period. 

All three players admitted their offences and accepted the sanctions proposed by Ali Naqvi of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees, so there was no need for formal hearings. 

On-field umpires Kalidas Viswanathan and Tabarak Dar, and reserve umpire Vinod Babu levelled the charges. 

Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.
