BANGLADESH FINED FOR SLOW OVER-RATE IN WOMEN’S ASIA CUP MATCH AGAINST SRI LANKA

Bangladesh have been fined five per cent of their match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate against Sri Lanka in their Women’s Asia Cup Group B match in Dubai on Sunday. 

G.S. Lakshmi of the Emirates International Panel of Match Referees imposed the sanction after Nigar Sultana Joty’s side was ruled to be one over short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration. 

In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time.  

Nigar Sultana pled guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction, so there was no need for a formal hearing. 

On-field umpires Vrinda Rathi and Humaira Farah, third umpire Saleema Imtiaz and fourth umpire Rabab Ahsan leveled the charge.
