Both matches abandoned on Day One of Women's World T20 Qualifier Europe/Americas
- Adverse weather leads to the postponement of both Scotland v Netherlands and Scotland v USA.
- Both matches have been re-scheduled, with Scotland v Netherlands now set for Tuesday 15th August at 2.30pm, and Scotland v USA to be played on Wednesday 16th August at 10.00am
Anticipation for the first round of matches in the ICC Women’s World T20 – Europe/Americas Qualifier was put on hold as the Scotland and Netherlands teams arrived to a wet Stirling County Cricket Club this morning.
The rain continued to fall throughout the morning as play seemed increasingly unlikely. After inspection of the field and the weather conditions and advice from the hardworking ground-staff the umpires made the decision to abandon the match without a ball bowled.
The first-round match between Scotland and Netherlands has been re-scheduled to take place in the first available reserve session, Tuesday 15th August at 2.30pm.
After an early lunch, efforts turned to the second game between Scotland and USA. The weather forecast provided a bit of optimism that a few dry periods might lead to some cricket later in the afternoon.
Despite the best efforts of the grounds staff and the on-going pitch inspections from the umpires, the rain never let up long enough for the covers to be removed and eventually the poor weather struck for the second time with the postponement of the game.
The Scotland v USA match will now be scheduled for completion at 10.00am on Wednesday 16th August.
