Botswana is gearing up to host its first ICC men’s event since 2018 with fixtures confirmed for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Africa Qualifier A, which takes place at the BCA Oval in Gaborone from 23 to 30 May 2026.

The tournament will see Botswana compete against Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Kenya, Mali, Rwanda and Sierra Leone, with the top two at the end of the week advancing to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier 2027. The tournament will be played in a single round robin format featuring a total of 21 games.

Tanzania and Ghana have already qualified for the regional final next year, after finishing first and second, respectively, at March’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub-regional Africa Qualifier B held in Ghana. Namibia have also qualified thanks to their participation at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

The Sub-regional Africa Qualifier C will determine a further two places in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier 2027, with hosts Nigeria vying for a spot alongside Gambia, Lesotho, Mozambique, Uganda and Zambia from 18-25 October 2026.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier 2027 event will ultimately offer two teams direct qualification to the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2028 in Australia and New Zealand.

Ms. Tebogo Ntesang, CEO, Botswana Cricket Association, said: “Hosting the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Africa Qualifier A is a proud milestone for Botswana cricket. We are honoured to welcome seven nations to the country and showcase Botswana on the international stage.”
