PAKISTAN PLAYERS GAIN IN ICC WOMEN’S T20I PLAYER RANKINGS
Media Release
With less than a month to go to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England and Wales, Pakistan players made good progress in the ICC Women’s T20I Player Rankings after their three-match series against Zimbabwe.
Captain Fatima Sana led by example with both bat and ball as her side claimed another 3-0 series sweep in Karachi. She took three wickets for seven in the first match and smashed an unbeaten 62 from 19 deliveries in the final match. Her half-century from just 15 balls is the fastest in women’s T20I history.
These achievements helped her move up four slots to 23rd among the batters, six slots to joint-29th in the bowlers’ list and though she remains sixth place in the all-rounders’ list, she has reached career-best rating points of 328.
Fatima’s teammate Ayesha Zafar was named Player of the Series after her scores of 102 not out and 45 in the first and last match respectively. She rocketed up the T20I batting rankings by 190 slots to joint-52nd place while Sadia Iqbal extended her lead at the top of the bowling charts to 19 points over England’s Sophie Ecclestone who will be back in action this week against New Zealand.
In the Women’s ODI Player Rankings, New Zealand batter Brooke Halliday scaled three slots from last week’s 17th position to enter the top 15 of the batters’ list. This came after she scored an unbeaten 42 from 54 balls in the third and final ICC Women’s Championship series match, which saw the visitors beat hosts England by 17-runs via the DLS method in Cardiff, finishing the rain-affected, three-match series 1-1 over the weekend.
Maddy Green added 37 more runs to her tally and was named the Player of the Series for her aggregate of 125 runs in two matches. Isabella Gaze made the most notable progress, advancing seven spaces to 51st for the White Ferns.
England’s Charlie Dean advanced four slots to 58th with compatriot Alice Capsey seeing rewards for her score of 45 in the last match with a two-slot boost to 75th and career-best rating points of 363.
Lauren Bell picked up New Zealand’s top three batters in the last match, dismissing them LBW and finished with figures of three for 29 to return to the top 20 of the bowling rankings in 17th place and career-best rating points of 562.
Emma Lamb took two wickets for 29 in seven overs to progress 16 slots to 37th among the bowlers.
