The third day of the ICC Women’s Emerging Trophy 2025 in Bangkok saw wins for Scotland, Thailand, Netherlands and Uganda.

Scotland maintained their unbeaten streak by winning their third match – against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) – by 10 wickets, to add to the three wins they recorded in the Quad Cup ahead of this event, while hosts Thailand returned to winning ways against Namibia.

Earlier in the day, it was the Netherlands who had won their second match of the tournament by beating Tanzania by seven wickets and Uganda won their first match in the tournament so far by beating Papua New Guinea (PNG) by four runs.

In Scotland’s one-sided match at TCG, the UAE were restricted to 93 for eight in their 20 overs after electing to bat first, thanks largely to excellent fielding that saw three run outs. They were complimented well by the antics of the match’s pick of the bowlers, Katherine Fraser, who returned the best figures of two wickets for 12 runs.

Darcey Carter (54 off 56 balls) smashed her third-consecutive half-century in the tournament, leading the chase with opening partner, Ailsa Lister (37 off 33 balls). They reached their target in quick fashion, winning the match with 31 balls to spare.

Thailand bounced back well from their defeat against PNG on Friday, beating Namibia by 27 runs at AIT in the afternoon match.

The hosts posted a competitive 115/6 in their allotted overs after they were put in to bat first by Namibia.

They got off to a rocky start when openers Chanida Sutthiruang and Nattaya Boochatham both lost their wickets without scoring, followed by Nannapat Koncharoenkai who managed five runs on the scorecard before her dismissal, but number four batter, Natthakan Chatham revived the innings, blasting an unbeaten 58 from 56 deliveries.

Suwanan Khiaoto and Phannita Maya chipped in with 16 and 13 runs respectively to give their side a respectable total in the end.

Namibia’s Noami Benjamin was the pick of their bowlers, accounting for Sutthiruang and Koncharoenkai’s wickets in the top order.

Their batting reply was curtailed by the efforts of Sunida Chaturongrattana (three for 19) and Onnicha Kamchophu (two for 15) who shared fived wickets between them. Only Yasmeen Khan (27 off 34 balls) and Kayleen Green (22 off 31 balls) managed scores over 20 as the hosts maintained the pressure, restricting Namibia to 88 for eight to squeeze a good victory in the end.

The first winners of day three were the Netherlands who won their second match of the tournament by beating Tanzania by seven wickets at AIT.

The Dutch won the toss and elected to field, bundling Tanzania out for 62 runs in 19.4 overs. Iris Zwilling led the attack with an impressive return of three wickets for 13 runs with excellent back up by Hannah Landheer (two for three), Frederique Overdijk (two for seven) and Silver Sigers (two for 13) who took two wickets each.

With the bat, it was Sterre Kalis who opened the books, leading the chase with 24 runs from 29 deliveries before she was dismissed by Sophia Jerome (two for 19). Overdijk (16 not out off 14 balls) and Robine Rijke (13 not out off 15 balls) finished the job after Phebe Molkenboer (four off six balls) and Babette De Leede (five from 10 balls) lost their wickets.

Uganda had been the only team without a win so far in the tournament, but they held on to beat PNG by four runs after the East Asia-Pacific champions had been impressive against Thailand in their previous match.

A captain’s knock by Janet Mbabazi saw her bat out the innings, returning unbeaten for 60 off 58 balls as her side posted 117/4 in their 20 overs after winning to toss and electing to bat first. Immaculate Nakisuuyi and Stephani Namiina chipped in with scores of 20 and 13 for the competitive total.

PNG were restricted to 36 for one in the first 10 overs thanks to disciplined bowling by Uganda, but captain Brenda Tau (23 off 35 balls) and Henao Thomas (27 off 29 balls) kept pushing. It was Pauke Siaka who brought life to the chase with a quickfire 39 from 23 balls after the skipper’s departure but in the end, a tumbling of wickets saw them fall short by just four runs.

Uganda’s Kevin Amuge and Janet Mbabazi were the pick of the bowlers with two wickets each.

The complete schedule of the tournament and other details are available in this media release.
