SRI LANKA AND PAKISTAN PLAYERS ADVANCE IN ICC WOMEN’S ODI PLAYER RANKINGS 

The ongoing ICC Women’s Championship series between Sri Lanka and Pakistan has seen rewards in movements for both teams’ players following a week of individual excellence with the series poised at 1-1 in the latest update of the ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings. 

Pakistan batter Sidra Amin has overtaken India captain Harmanpreet Kaur to reach ninth place thanks to scores of 57 and 100 not out in the first two fixtures in Hambantota.  Her teammate Gull Feroza has raced 18 slots up the charts to 54th after a 77-ball score of 78 in the first match that was won by the visitors by five wickets. 

Sri Lanka bounced back in the second match, winning by eight wickets with 19 balls to spare, thanks to a 203-run, second-wicket partnership between Vishmi Gunaratne (run-a-ball 123) and Haritha Samarawickrama (100 not out from 119 balls). Samarawickrama gained three slots to reach a joint-career-best 17th place with 604 rating points, while Gunaratne leaped 16 tiles to her own personal-best 39th place with 433 points. 

Their teammate Kavisha Dilhari has taken three wickets in the series so far and scored 40 not out from 33 deliveries in the second match to move five places to 38th in the batters’ list (512 points), nine slots to joint-36th among the bowlers (431 points) and two up to 14th in the all-rounders’ list (220 points), career-best feats on every list.  

Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu’s contributions with bat and ball have seen her move three slots to 32nd in the bowlers’ list and one up to eighth in the all-rounders’ list, but she has slipped four places to 21st among the batters in spite of her score of 46 (67 balls) in the series opener. 

Pakistan’s spin duo of Umm-e-Hani and Syeda Aroob have advanced 11 slots each to reach 53rd and 63rd places, respectively, in the Women’s ODI Bowling Rankings.
