WEST INDIES FINED FOR SLOW OVER-RATE IN FIRST WODI AGAINST AUSTRALIA
Media Release
The West Indies team has been fined 10 per cent of its match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate in the first Women’s ODI against Australia at the Warner Park Cricket Ground in St. Kitts on Friday.
Reon King of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees imposed the sanction after the West Indies side was ruled to be two overs short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration.
In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time.
Captain Hayley Matthews pled guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction, so there was no need for a formal hearing.
On-field umpires Lauren Agenbag and Candace La Borde, third umpire Jacquline Williams and fourth umpire Maria Abbott leveled the charge.
