Reporter: Did you think you had a chance when Australia were 2 for 7?

Hayley Matthews: Yeah for sure I think – obviously going into the second innings we knew we didn’t have the score that we wanted on the board, but at the same time we've shown a lot of faith throughout this entire tournament and we were looking to do nothing different today. We knew we had a chance once we went out there and took early wickets like we would in any other game. So yeah.

Reporter: What was the pitch condition like today in terms of when Anisa was sent batting first?

Matthews: Yeah I think the pitch was obviously a day three pitch – we saw a couple games on it before there was a bit of grass on the top, which probably offered a bit of seam for the pacers as you saw, but we felt as if we've been doing really well batting for the entire tournament. Yeah, the wicket wasn't anything that you needed to run from or really be scared about. So yeah, we had a lot of confidence that we could have gone over there and batted well again today and unfortunately, we just weren't able to do that. But I don't think that's any blame to the pitch.

Reporter: I just wanted to ask about the plans to Meg Lanning - she got out slashing at a wild one again today. Was that something you noticed from the New Zealand game two days ago and aimed to target?

Matthews: Yeah, we did see that she got out in a couple of games like that. I think our plan was to definitely try to keep her slipping as long as possible, obviously a bowler like Shamilia Connel, she has a bit more pace on her - like I said the wicket was quite conducive to the team so yeah, we just knew when she’ll bowl the right areas, that the slip will probably be in play for a good little while.

Reporter: And with Bangladesh up next - probably quite confident of their first win - what are you expecting from them?

Matthews: Yeah, obviously World Cup - so every team we play, we're looking to go down playing our best game. Like you said they're probably going to be on a high after their last one. And yeah, they're a good team. They've been scoring, probably about 200 runs every game which I guess it's good to see pretty development of the game. But yeah, when we go there, we’d like to play as hard as we would play any other team. And yeah, just looking to go there and try to execute our plans as best as possible. And yeah, win and kind of get those points at the table for us.

Reporter: Ellyse Perry's a player that's done very well against the West Indies in the past and it continued today. What how much preparation did you focus on her and particularly her with the ball?

Matthews: Yeah, well, we know she's a class player. One of the best bowlers in the world. Obviously, we would have done our analysis on herself and all the other players. But yeah, she came out there and she executed her plans really well. I think hitting stumps, getting close to the top off every time she came over there to bowl using different angles on the crease and yeah, it seemed to work against us and hopefully if we do bat them again in a tournament later on then we will be in a better position to try to I guess not let her get on top as easily.

Reporter: Question is we got off to a flyer at the start of the tournament - two wins, from two matches. Obviously we lost two now. Three games remaining. How much of a pressure situation is that - to win, especially if net run rate comes into play with us dropping down a little bit further now - how much of a pressure is that on the team going forward into the last three games?

Matthews: I don't think there is too much pressure. Coming into this tournament. We knew our first four games are probably going to be our four hardest. I think we kind of said to ourselves, if we could get at least two or three wins over these first four games we will be in a really strong position and we've done exactly that. I think looking at the rest of the games. These are games that we should expect to win. And what’s the good thing about it is that the term is still in our hands if we go there and we can win all three of our games, we will be qualifying for the semifinals. So I don't think there's much pressure at the moment, we know that we have the kind of team once we go there and we play our best cricket we’ll get the wins on there. So yeah, no pressure, just a matter of going out there each and every day and taking it one game at a time. Obviously and yeah, just performing as best as we can.

Reporter: Not such a good game today with the bat for you, two good games so we have had so far. Well three good game and then moving on now.

Matthews: Yeah, hopefully, not every day I try to walk up to the [inaudible 05:50] in the second over and watch another 40th bowl - so yeah, that happens. Sometimes you're not going to always get a score and that was just how it was for me today. It was really good to see Steff getting in the runs. I keep saying that. She's the type of player who just knows how to score runs even when she's out of form and it just really showed today and yeah, I was really happy for her.

Reporter: You have had a good day in the field as a fielder, and you were also in the thick of things during the India game, taking some stunners - tell us a bit about how you've worked on yourself as a slip fielder. Do you enjoy it particularly? And how much of a confidence does fielding well in the slips, infuse in your performance overall?

Matthews: Yeah, well honestly, I'm actually kind of just getting back into things with the slip catching I think over the last three years myself and the team went through a bit of a shaky period where we probably put down a lot of catches and slip if you really looked at the record. So we've tried right before this World Cup just to do a lot of work, getting ourselves in good position and getting a better understanding of what it takes to be a good slip catcher and yeah, definitely gives a lot of confidence when you can be back there and reflexes are working sharp and yeah, I guess it just kind of puts me in a place where I understand that my eyes and hands are working really well together. And yeah, like you said, it gives me a lot of confidence. It gives the bowlers a lot of confidence as well, to be able to bowl the right areas and understand, I guess feel secure in the fact that they have someone that's going to catch you back there too.

Reporter: And do you have a favorite so far- Deepti Sharma, Meg Lanning and the return catch you took off Allyssa Healy today?

Matthews: I guess I'll kind of have to go to the Deepti Sharma one- just because it was a one hander. Yeah probably that one.
