Off-spinner Molly Strano will replace Tayla Vlaeminck in Australia's Women's T20 World Cup squad.
The right-arm quick was seen wearing a moon boot at a press event yesterday due to a stress injury in her foot.
While Vlaeminck has only limited international experience, with just nine T20I caps to her name, her absence will come as a blow to the defending champions, with her unusual action helping her to maintain a status as one of the fastest bowlers in the world.
Strano has played five T20Is, all in 2017, during which time she claimed her maiden five-for, taking figures of 5/10 against New Zealand at Geelong.
Australia's campaign gets underway on 21 February against India at the Sydney Cricket Ground, the opening game of the tournament.
