21 March - Hamilton - West Indies coach Corey Collymore post-match press conference
Reporter: My question is the last couple of matches we have seen West Indies struggle a little bit with a bat. Did that finally catch up to you today? Is that the assessment of the match right now?
Coach: I honestly think we were struggling in all tournament. So I would agree. I think it's finally caught up with us. We didn't bat well enough today and at some stage if you keep playing like that it will catch up with you.
Reporter: And what has been the talks regarding that? I mean, the first match, Hayley played that sensational innings to help you pull off one of the best wins of the tournament so far. And what happened since - has there been like an area identified to improve, has the mood been good in the batting camp?
Coach: The mood has been very good. But I think even from that first game, we don't get consistent performances from our batters and you know in 50 over cricket you always talking about one batter batting right through, or two or three batters getting scores. And even that game Hayley got a hundred – second game if I'm not mistaken, I think Deandra got a score and one game the captain got a score another game Campbell got a score. So you haven't been putting consistent performances together as a batting group.
Reporter: What was the motive behind changing the team today? Because we saw West Indies do really well the other day against Bangladesh with the likes of Karishma. So what was the motive behind bringing Anissa back in at the cost of Ramharack - who kind of held one end up in the previous game?
Coach: First of all, I'm not a selector. I mean, we’ve got 18 people on tour’, we've got 15 people in the squad. And I think any 11 that we put on the part should be able to represent the West Indies and do a good job. Anisa is a very experienced player. She has the record I think for the most wickets for us and you know, we should be able again to do the job.
Reporter: Coach coming off the last game it was a close match. Right? What was the plan going into Pakistan game today knowing that okay, there was a possibility of playing reduced overs.
Coach: I think overs shouldn't really matter. The plan was the same as always, we look to you know, put a score on the board if you’re batting first. If you bowl them first, you need to be really tight, pressure the opposition. I don't think we soak the pressure up enough by our ball actually, is really tough on the bowlers to try to defend 90. I don't think we have played enough pressure with the bat - probably been a bit too hard early on and we didn't settle down and try to get a score on the board that we could defend
Reporter: Yeah, so regarding the bowling so far, Hayley has been really good with her off spin. Do you think the supporting cast has kind of not been able to pick up the slack when we couldn't work out today? How do you see the bowling performance today and the last couple of matches?
Coach: I think today, it was difficult to defend 90 runs. We really had to be on our A game today in every single ball. We didn't do too well in the field as well. We're still missing one of our premier players, bowler sorry - So things like that can help you in defending a total. But only setting 90 runs again, it was really difficult.
Reporter: Coming into this game, obviously, it would have been weather to the forefront to the back of the players’ minds, that it was almost a must win for us to guarantee a semifinals. What do you think that in addition to only playing 20 overs and all the conditions played a factor in your results tonight?
Coach: I can't say that, if you look at how we batted if you're honest with yourself, you didn't play a particularly good shots. Everyone keeps saying we've got quality batters. But Quality batters are not putting up quality performances. Still does not mean a quality team.
Reporter: As a coach, if you had to tell your players only one thing post-match right now what would you tell them?
Coach: Probably it's not best to say down here.
Reporter: We had one question that was sent in. They want to know how does the team pick up from here going into that last game against South Africa.
Coach: That would come from discussion. Probably not something I have noticed. We started late. We've got two days that we need to you know, sit down, have a chat and discuss how you're going to go. One more game is still another World Cup game is still another international game. So you have to go in it with a positive mindset and look to win the game.
