The tampering violation sanctions behavior that is intended to ‘corrupt’ the doping control process.

Doping control includes all activities undertaken by an anti-doping organization, starting from the planning process for testing to an anti-doping case being heard by a panel.

This means that there is a wide range of activities that can constitute tampering including tipping off a player that doping control personnel are on their way to take a sample, providing fraudulent information, or trying to to damage or interfere with a blood or urine sample.
