Jason Ralston took 7/15 in Australia's thumping win over Papua New Guinea to break the record for the best-ever bowling figures at the ICC U19 CWC.
Jason Ralston was the star of the show as Australia cruised into the quarter-finals of the ICC U19 CWC after sweeping aside Papua New Guinea by 311 runs in the Group B encounter at Lincoln Green.
After a superb innings of 156 from Nathan McSweeney set the platform for Australia's total of 370/8, the right-arm seamer tore through the opposition, taking 7/15 – the best-ever figures at the ICC U19 CWC and the second-best in all Youth ODIs – as PNG slumped to 59 all out.
"Words can’t really describe it, it’s been a great experience," said Ralston. "That’s my first seven-for ever and it was good to be here with the Australian boys and do it in an international match. I thought I was bowling reasonably quick, probably around 135kph. When we played the India game that’s what I was coming up at. Today I was just trying to hit the stumps, and it was a good day. It was unreal."

Ralston said he is learning quickly under the tutelage of former Australia fast bowler Ryan Harris and hopes that one day he can emulate his U19 coach and represent his country at senior level.
"My number one priority is to play for Australia," he added. "I think that’s any cricketer’s goal. But first of all I want play for my state, New South Wales, and work my way up. It’s unreal to be coached by someone like Rhino [Harris]. To have him around is great. He passes on a lot of his knowledge to the boys, especially the fast bowlers. He knows a lot about how to think like a fast bowler, where to bowl the ball and what to do in certain situations. It’s always good to have a role model like that to look up to."
