Pakistan made their highest total in all ICC Women's World T20, with both Bismah Maroof and Nida Dar making fifties.
Yet, they finished on the losing side as Mithali Raj's 56 off 47 balls led India to a seven-wicket win in Match 5 of the ICC Women's World T20 2018.
Put in on Sunday, 11 November, Pakistan were reduced to 10/2. Then, however, the Indian fielding, having been spot on early in the innings, felt the pressure of a big match against their arch rivals and fumbled in the field with at least five missed chances.
Maroof (53 off 49) and Dar (52 off 35) made the most of it, taking on the bowlers in a 94-run stand. India did well to pull things back at the finish, keeping the opposition to 133/7.
Pakistan, warned for running on the protected area of the pitch, were penalised twice, for five runs each time and India began their innings at 10/0. Raj, back to opening the innings with Smriti Mandhana, soaked up the pressure as the duo added 73 for the first wicket in 9.3 overs. It was then just a matter of keeping their heads.
India now have two wins from two games, while Pakistan are yet to open their account. They next play Ireland, on Tuesday.
