Ajit Agarkar's tenure as India men's chief selector ends
Former India all-rounder Ajit Agarkar saw the team achieve greater heights during his tenure as the Chairman of the Men’s Selection Committee.
Ajit Agarkar's tenure as the Chairman of the Men’s Selection Committee for India has come to an end.
Agarkar was appointed in the role in July 2023, and saw India achieve a number of landmarks during his time as the Chairman of Selection Committee.
As a former India all-rounder, Agarkar was a regular feature in the late 1990s and 2000s, playing in 26 Tests, 191 ODIs, and four T20Is.
He was a part of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2007 squad that won the inaugural edition of the competition, bowled India to a historic Test win over Australia in 2003 at Adelaide and still holds the record for fastest fifty for an India batter in ODI cricket, a feat he achieved against Zimbabwe in 2000.

Among India's successes during his time as the Chairman of Men’s Selection Committee, were two ICC Men's T20 World Cup titles (2024 and 2026), and an ICC Men's Champions Trophy title (2025).
