Alam's spell destroys Oman

Afghanistan registered its second impressive win in the ACC U19 Elite Cup on Wednesday. In a Group B match, Afghanistan trounced Oman by nine wickets.

Oman, after choosing to bat, was shot out for a below par 59 in 36.5 overs. Afghanistan overhauled the modest target in 12.3 overs. Man of the Match Aftab Alam picked up 8-12 to destroy Oman's innings at the Terdthai Cricket Ground, Bangkok.

In the other game of the day, Hong Kong beat Singapore by 46 runs in a Group A match at the Prem Centre at Chiang Mai.

Hong Kong batted first but could only make 157 in 36.5 overs with Kinchit Shah making 38 off 71 balls and Aizaz Khan scoring 39 (56b, 5x4, 1x6). Varun Sivaram with figures of 4-27 was the best bowler on view for Singapore.

In its reply Singapore never got going. Singapire lost wickets at regular intervals with only Prasheen Param making 34. Singapore was eventually bowled out for 111 in 39.5 overs.

For Hong Kong, Aizaz Khan (2-27), Niaz Ali (3-16), Nizakat Khan (3-17) shared the wickets around.
