All-round Bermuda thrash Argentina by 70 runs
Bermdua 139/5 (Fray 40; Rossi 1/20) BEAT Argentina 69/9 (Rossi 24; Stovell 2/4) by 70 runs.
Bermuda beat Argentina by 70 runs in the WT20 Americas Sub Regional Qualifier.
Batting first, Bermudan openers Deon Stovell (31) and Kamau Leverock (25) put on 37 for the first wicket before Leverock fell to Jon Hurley after a blistering 11-ball knock.
Stovell was next to go having faced 29 balls and No.4 Janeiro Tucker went soon after having faced 15 balls for just 4. But No.3 Terryn Fray stroked a composed 40 off 37 balls alongside Temiko Wilson, who ended 34 not out off 28 balls.
Santiago Rossi was the pick of the Argentine bowlers, taking 1/20 from his four overs as Bermuda got up to 139/5 from their 20.
The Argentine reply never got going, with only No.7 Samuel Hatt (10) and top-scorer No.8 Rossi (24) reaching double figures. Hurley didn't bat. The wickets were spread around six bowlers but Stovell was the best of them, finishing with the remarkable figures of 2/4 off his four overs.
The result means Argentina have now lost all four of their matches in the tournament so far. Bermuda, who’ve won two and lost one, take on three-from-three Cayman Islands tomorrow.
