Andrew Faichney named new ICC EAP Regional Development Manager
The International Cricket Council (ICC) today announces that Andrew Faichney has been appointed to the position of East Asia-Pacific (EAP) Regional Development Manager.
Faichney recently returned to his native Australia after completing a role as the ICC's Development Events Manager in Dubai and will begin his new position with the ICC EAP office in Melbourne on 3 May.
He previously held roles as Development Manager for Athletics Australia and Competition Manager for Athletics during the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
ICC Development Programme Manager Tim Anderson said: "Following an extensive recruitment process that attracted several outstanding applicants from all over the world, I'm delighted that a person of Andrew's skills and experience will by joining the ICC's EAP team.
"The amount of cricket activity in East Asia and the Pacific has grown significantly in recent years and this role will be crucial in the continued strengthening of the game in the region's 10 ICC Member countries. We are sure Andrew will be a terrific asset in this process," added Anderson.
Faichney said: "I'm delighted to be rejoining the Pepsi ICC Development Programme, especially during such an exciting period in the evolution of cricket development in the East Asia-Pacific region.
"Considerable progress has been made in recent years, both on and off the field, and therefore I'm excited by the opportunity of working with the Region's Members to build on this further," he added.
The 10 ICC Member countries of the EAP region are Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Japan, Vanuatu, Cook Islands, Indonesia, South Korea, Tonga, Samoa and the Philippines. Close to 70,000 participants are now actively involved in cricket activities within this region, a figure that has more than doubled since 2007.
