Andrew Tye ruled out of Sri Lanka series with elbow injury

Andrew Tye

Tye had injured his right elbow after he could barely take part in Australia's training session at the Adelaide Oval on Friday, 25 October. Despite Tye's injury, the hosts still have enough firepower in their fast bowling department with a solid blend of experience and youth in Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Billy Stanlake and Kane Richardson.

New South Wales' Sean Abbott has been called in as a replacement for the injured paceman, and he will join the squad on Monday ahead of the second T20I.

Tye has been a much sought after bowler in the shortest format, especially in the slog overs, while playing for Australia and in other T20 leagues around the world. Kane Richardson, who, much like Tye, often relies on his shrewd variations in pace and lengths at the death, is likely to shoulder the responsibility alongside Mitchell Starc.

Meanwhile, skipper Aaron Finch has recovered from the side strain injury and has been cleared to play in first of the three T20Is, which will be played at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday, 27 October.
