Arorangi claims Saturday morning women's comeptition
Arorangi have done it again in the extended Edgewater women's Saturday morning cricket competition in Cook Islands by resisting tough competition from Punanga Kaveao's Muri side.
After struggling in the first competition of the season Muri found late form heading into the extended season, however a drawn match for Muri proved the difference as Arorangi (20 points) only recorded one loss from six games while Muri (18 points) suffered a loss and posted a draw.
The Young Guns Matavera side came in third (eight points) while Turangi finished last with six points.
The extended Edgewater Saturday morning competition was dominated by the batters as Moeroa Mamanu-Matheson (Arorangi) ended the season as the leading run-getter (215 runs), Punanga Kaveao of Muri came in second with 193 and Margaret Dean of Arorangi scored 176.
Matavera bowlers Trainee Tinorei (seven wickets) and Vicky Thompson (six wickets) finished first and second respectively on the lead wicket-takers' ladder with Punanga Kaveao taking third spot with six wickets.
