Aussie kids to get Cricket Smart
Australia Cricket Coach Darren Lehmann was on hand with son Ethan to help launch Cricket Smart at Marist College Ashgrove Junior School in Queensland earlier this week.
The Lehmanns tried out some of the Cricket Smart resources and spoke about the programme from the point of view of both a parent and a student.
Darren said the programme is one that he would have liked to have tried as a student.
“From my point of view it’s a great tool to have for the kids. They are getting taught by the likes of Michael Clarke, James Pattinson, James Faulkner and Nathan Lyon.”
Cricket Smart uses the theme of cricket to teach six core and emerging subjects – which is appealing to Ethan.
“You can be taught science, maths and history through cricket. I think it’s really cool,” says Ethan.
Using the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 as a focal point, Cricket Smart celebrates the return of tournament to Australia in an educationally focused way.
A Cricket Australia initiative, Cricket Smartis a free tool for teachers to create a fun and engaging learning environment that uses cricket as a teaching resource.
