Australia dealt massive blow ahead of first Ashes Test

The Aussies have made a call on the fitness of their skipper ahead of the first Ashes Test commencing on November 21.

Australia have been dealt a massive blow with news that captain Pat Cummins will miss the first Ashes Test against England due to injury.

Cummins has been battling a back injury in recent times and Cricket Australia confirmed the skipper will not be fit in time to feature in the ICC World Test Championship series opener in Perth from November 21.

Australia captain Pat Cummins starred with a sensational six-for to secure as Australia secured a first-innings lead.

His absence will pave the way for former skipper Steve Smith to lead the side as captain, with Cummins now aiming to be fit for the second Test in Brisbane from December 4.

Cricket Australia confirmed Cummins has resumed running and is expected to return to bowling shortly in a bid to prove his fitness.
