India, Australia at the top in Annual Team Rankings
Australia extended their lead in the Men’s Tests, Women's T20Is and Women's ODI Rankings, while India continued to dominate in the Men's ODI and T20I Rankings.
The first phase of the ICC Team Rankings annual update on 1 May saw Australia maintain their stranglehold at the top in both the ICC Men’s Test and Women’s ODI Team Rankings.
The second phase of update also saw them take the lead in the Women's T20I Team Rankings.
Their hegemony was broken by the ICC Men's T20 World Cup champions India, who continue to dominate in the ICC Men's T20I Team Rankings, with England and Australia following them.
The latest, and last phase of update saw India continue to lead the way in the latest Men’s ODI Team Rankings annual update, holding on to the No.1 position despite a slight dip in rating points.
The annual rankings update considers all matches played since May 2025 at full weightage (100 per cent), while results from the preceding two years are factored in at 50 per cent.
Men's Test Team Rankings
The annual update had no impact on the top two in the Men's Test rankings, with Australia continuing their reign at No.1, strengthening their position with a three-point increase to 131.
Reigning World Test Champions South Africa also held firm at No.2, benefiting from a similar three-point rise to 119.
India moved up one place to third (104), overtaking England (102), who dropped a spot after losing the weightage of results prior to 30 April 2023, including home series wins against New Zealand and South Africa, as well as a 3-0 triumph in Pakistan, which are no longer factored into the rankings.
Pakistan (89) also benefited from the annual update, leapfrogging Sri Lanka (86) after their 3-0 home series defeat to England dropped out of the weightage period, along with the weightage of their 2-0 loss to Bangladesh in 2024 being halved.
West Indies, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe complete the top 10, with Ireland dropping out of the rankings, having not played the requisite eight matches in the rating period. Both Ireland and Afghanistan need to play two Tests each in the next year to return to the standings.

The top six remain unchanged, with India (126), South Africa (100), New Zealand (93) and Sri Lanka (89) all holding on to their respective positions.

Thailand need to play one more ODI, while the Netherlands require two more matches to regain their rankings.
The annual rankings updates continue in the coming week, with the Men’s and Women’s T20I rankings set to be announced on 5 May, followed by the Men’s ODI Team Rankings update on 7 May.
Men's T20I Team Rankings
India, who became the first-ever side to retain their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title this year, under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, are at the pole position of the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings.
Sitting at 275 points, India see their lead over England (262 points) trimmed by merely one point, while Australia are placed closer to England at the third place with 258 points.
The Men in Blue haven't lost a single series in the format since 2023, and have also won two T20 World Cups and an Asia Cup in this period.

The top seven positions in the Men’s Rankings are unchanged with New Zealand (247 points), South Africa (244 points), Pakistan (240) and West Indies (233) following up.
Beyond that, a drop in six rating points for Sri Lanka sees them slip downwards to the ninth spot, while Bangladesh (225 points) who gained one point in the update are up at eighth. Afghanistan are merely one point away from Sri Lanka at 10th with 220 points, while Zimbabwe and Ireland also retain their ranks at 11th and 12th.
Women's T20I Team Rankings
Australia continue to lead the ICC Women's T20I Team Rankings after the annual update, holding a 12-point lead over England to further solidify their position as the top side heading into ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026.
Australia lead the latest ICC Women's T20I Rankings with 287 points, followed by England and India in second and third with 275 and 264 points respectively, as the top 16 remain unchanged.

West Indies (238) and Sri Lanka (237) are placed sixth and seventh, respectively, with just a solitary point separating the two sides.
Pakistan remain in eighth with 216 points, while Ireland (200) and Bangladesh (199) complete the top 10, again separated by just one point.
Men's ODI Team Rankings
India now sit on 118 rating points, one fewer than before, but still maintain a five-point cushion over second-placed New Zealand, who are on 113 points. Australia remain close behind in third with 109 points, ensuring the top three positions remain unchanged after the latest revision.
One of the biggest gains in the update comes from South Africa, whose rise to 102 points sees them climb into fourth place ahead of Pakistan, who now sit on 98 points. The Proteas’ consistent ODI performances over the last cycle have helped them edge past Pakistan in a tightly contested mid-table battle.

Further down the rankings, Sri Lanka remain sixth on 96 points, followed by Afghanistan on 93 and England on 89. Bangladesh continue to occupy ninth place with 84 points, while the West Indies round off the top 10 on 74 points.
The latest update could carry significant implications in the race towards direct qualification for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup. Bangladesh have widened the gap over West Indies to 10 points, up from six in the previous update, adding further importance to upcoming bilateral ODI series as teams continue to battle for qualification spots.
