Australia name squad for New Zealand, Bangladesh assignments

Australia has named a 14-player group to face Bangladesh and New Zealand in limted-overs action at home across two series in October.

The side, coming off a Women's T20 World Cup triumph in the UK earlier this year, have named the same group for both a three-ODI series against Bangladesh from October 9 in Brisbane, and three T20Is against the White Ferns from October 18 in Sydney.

Captain Sophie Molineux will lead the team, though her level of involvement will be monitored by staff as she recovers from a hip injury.

Darcy Brown misses out due to a back injury, while fellow young fast bowler Lucy Hamilton will sit out the three ODIs with a quad strain.

Selector Shawn Flegler considers the three ICC Women's Championship ODIs against Bangladesh vital, especially with an eye on next year's ICC Women's Champions Trophy.

“Bangladesh will be a really good test, particularly with the quality they have in their bowling attack," Flegler said.

"It’s also a great opportunity for our batters to get exposure to subcontinent-style bowling ahead of the Champions Trophy in India."
