One of the premium pacers in women’s cricket - Tayla Vlaeminck - is all set to make her comeback to competitive cricket.

Vlaeminck will feature in a Green v Gold red-ball contest in Sydney, Australia. This will mark her return to cricket for the first time since the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.

Vlaeminck dislocated her shoulder in the very first over of Australia’s campaign, and has been out of cricket ever since.

Despite making her international debut in 2018, an injury-riddled career has seen Vlaeminck feature in just 29 international games over the last eight years.

But the pacer is optimistic and ready to make her comeback.

“I'm just counting down the days now,” she said at the launch of Australia’s international schedule.

“I'm feeling really good now, and just loving being back out there in the nets and getting out of the gym, which has been really good.”

Vlaeminck said that she missed cricket and was excited to be back on the field.

“I haven't played cricket in almost 16 months now, so just to get back out there, it's just really exciting. I've been watching cricket for a long time now, and the more you watch it, and the closer you get to playing, the more you realise how much you miss it.”

While an Australia comeback is still some distance away, Vlaeminck’s return bodes well for the team ahead of their 2026 campaign.
