Bangladesh have announced their squad for the opening two matches of the upcoming ODI series against Australia, set to be played in Dhaka this month.

The three-match series begins on June 9, with the second ODI scheduled for June 11 while the final match takes place on June 14.

Captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz continues to lead a settled unit, with Bangladesh retaining 13 members from the squad that recently secured a 2-1 ODI series win over New Zealand.

Squad: Mehidy Hasan Miraz (C), Soumya Sarkar, Saif Hassan, Tanzid Hasan, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Tawhid Hridoy, Litton Kumer Das, Musaddek Hossain Saikot, Quazi Nurul Hasan Sohan, Rishad Hossain, Tanvir Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, Nahid Rana.

There are a couple of notable returns to the side. Musaddek Hossain returns to the ODI setup after nearly four years, with the 30-year-old having last featured in the format back in August 2022. Wicketkeeper-batter Quazi Nurul Hasan also returns after missing the New Zealand series.

Another major talking point remains Bangladesh’s pace attack, which features Nahid Rana, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman and Shoriful Islam. Rana impressed heavily during the New Zealand series, claiming eight wickets, including his second five-wicket haul in ODI cricket.

Meanwhile, batters Afif Hossain and Mahidul Islam Ankon miss out from the squad that faced New Zealand earlier this year.

Following the ODI series, Bangladesh will also play three T20Is against Australia starting June 17.

Third ODI: June 14, Dhaka

First T20I: June 17, Chattogram
