Bangladesh name uncapped Nayeem Hasan in Test squad to face Sri Lanka
Nayeem Hasan, a teenage off-spinner with just four first-class appearances to his name, has received a maiden Test call-up for the first Test of Bangladesh's two-match series against Sri Lanka.
The 17-year-old has caught the eye at the ongoing ICC U19 CWC in New Zealand, taking 2/36 in Bangladesh's Super League quarter-final defeat to India, and will return home immediately, with a view to a possible Test debut in Chittagong on 31 January. Nayeem only turned 17 last December and has a best first-class haul of 4/84.
Shakib Al Hasan returns to the squad as captain, having been rested from the tour of South Africa in September and October last year. The experienced spin-bowling all-rounder will be hoping to carry his sparkling form in the ongoing ODI tri-series into the Test arena.
Mossadek Hossain, the 22-year-old batsman, and right-arm seamer Kamrul Islam have also been recalled, with Subashis Roy, Soumya Sarkar, Sabbir Rahman, Shafiul Islam and Taskin Ahmed all making way.
