Bangladesh reveal schedule for crucial West Indies WTC series
After securing a 1-1 series draw against Australia, Bangladesh will be hoping to keep the momentum going in the World Test Championship.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Tuesday, September 8, announced the schedule for their upcoming two-match Test series at home against the West Indies.
The series, starting October 28 with the first Test in Mirpur, is part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship cycle. The second and final Test will be played in Sylhet starting November 5. Bangladesh sit fourth in the current WTC Standings, having drawn their recent two-match series in Australia.
Out of their six Tests in the current cycle, Bangladesh have won three, lost two and drawn one. Their other assignments include a 1-0 away series loss against Sri Lanka last year and a 2-0 series sweep against Pakistan at home.
Meanwhile, the West Indies are eighth in the nine-team standings, just above Pakistan, against whom they drew 1-1 in their last assignment in the ongoing cycle.
After 12 outings, the West Indies have only won two Tests, lost eight and drawn on two occasions. They began the current cycle with five straight losses, which included a 3-0 series loss at home against Australia followed by a 2-0 away series defeat at the hands of India.
The Windies went another three Tests before registering their first win in the current World Test Championship, which came against Sri Lanka in their 1-0 home series win.
The touring side will also play in a three-day warm-up match starting October 22 before the series against Bangladesh.
