Bangladesh beat Australia by 20 runs, First Test, Mirpur, 2017
Bangladesh recorded their first-ever Test victory over Australia in 2017, securing a memorable 20-run win on a turning track in Mirpur.
Batting first, Bangladesh recovered from a difficult start to post 260, with Shakib Al Hasan leading the way with 84 while Tamim Iqbal contributed 71. Australia battled hard in reply but were bowled out for 217, with Shakib starring with the ball as he claimed a five-wicket haul.
Tamim then produced another important innings, scoring 78, while captain Mushfiqur Rahim added 41 as Bangladesh reached 221 in their second innings to set Australia a target of 265. David Warner's century kept Australia's hopes alive, but Bangladesh's spinners once again took control.
Shakib completed another five-wicket haul, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz claimed two wickets to finish with five in the match and Taijul Islam took three to bring his match tally to four. The spin attack bowled Australia out for 244, sealing a hard-fought 20-run victory and Bangladesh's first Test triumph over Australia.

Bangladesh beat New Zealand by 8 wickets, First Test, Mount Maunganui, 2022
Bangladesh kicked off 2022 with one of the most famous victories in their cricketing history, stunning the then ICC World Test Champions New Zealand by eight wickets in Mount Maunganui.
Batting first, New Zealand posted a strong 328, but Bangladesh responded brilliantly with a collective batting effort that saw them reach 458 and secure a valuable 130-run first-innings lead. Their bowlers then took control in the second innings, led by a sensational six-wicket haul from Ebadot Hossain, as New Zealand were bowled out for just 169.

Bangladesh beat Pakistan by 10 wickets, First Test, Rawalpindi, 2024
Bangladesh toured Pakistan in 2024 searching for their first-ever Test victory over their Asian rivals. They not only achieved that feat but went on to complete a historic series sweep.
In the first Test, Pakistan took control after being asked to bat first, with centuries from Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan powering them to a mammoth 448 before they declared. Bangladesh, however, were unfazed by the imposing total and gradually took control of the contest.
Mushfiqur Rahim produced a magnificent 191, while Shadman Islam fell just short of a century with 93. Mominul Haque, Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz also contributed half-centuries as Bangladesh responded with an impressive 565.
With a 117-run first-innings lead, Bangladesh put Pakistan under immense pressure and their bowlers delivered, dismissing the hosts for 174. Mehidy Hasan Miraz claimed four wickets, while Shakib Al Hasan picked up three as Bangladesh were left with just 30 runs to win. They completed the chase without losing a wicket, securing a historic 10-wicket victory.
Bangladesh carried that momentum into the second Test and completed a 2-0 series triumph.
Bangladesh beat Australia by 9 wickets, First Test, Darwin, 2026
Bangladesh toured Australia for just the second time to play a Test series, and in the opening match they produced one of the most iconic victories in their history.
Hasan Mahmud spearheaded a brilliant bowling display as Australia were bowled out for 198 in the first innings, claiming a six-wicket haul to rip through the home side's batting line-up. Bangladesh then made full use of the advantage, piling on 426 in their first innings to establish a commanding 228-run lead. Tanzid Hasan struck a century, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Najmul Hossain Shanto both contributed half-centuries.
Bangladesh continued to hold the upper hand in the second innings, bowling Australia out for 284. Mehidy Hasan Miraz starred with a five-wicket haul, while Hasan Mahmud added another three wickets to finish with nine in the match. Set just 57 runs for victory, Bangladesh made light work of the chase to complete a dominant nine-wicket win.
