Batter back in Bangladesh squad for Ireland Test series

Bangladesh have named their squad for the upcoming Test series against Ireland. 

Top-order batter Mahmudul Hasan Joy has benefitted from good domestic form, and makes a comeback into the Bangladesh side for the upcoming Test series against Ireland. Mahmudul had featured for Bangladesh in the home series against Zimbabwe, but didn't make the subsequent away tour of Sri Lanka.

Mahmudul had scored 238 across four innings for Chattogram in recent outings.

Najmul Hossain Shanto, who was recently named as the Test skipper till the 2027 ICC World Test Championship cycle, will captain the side against Ireland.

Ireland's tour of Bangladesh will be a multi-format tour, with two Tests and three T20Is to be played.

The squad also includes the veteran Mushfiqur Rahim, who could complete his 100 Tests if he features in both games of the series. He'll become the first Bangladesh player to achieve the landmark.
