Bavuma returns as South Africa announce squads for white-ball tour of India

During the virtual press conference to announce the Proteas' squad for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022, Cricket South Africa also announced the squads for the white-ball tour of India starting later this month.

CSA have decided to send the same 15-member squad selected for the T20 World Cup to India to gain some much-needed game time ahead of the marquee event.

Rassie van der Dussen was the most notable name missing from the squad as he continues his recovery from the finger injury he suffered during the second Test in Manchester against England. He is set to undergo surgery and is expected to be out for at least six weeks.

Skipper Temba Bavuma returns after missing the five-match series against England in July-August. Bavuma was out of action after suffering an elbow injury during the T20I series against India in June but has made a full recovery in time for the series against India as well as the T20 World Cup.

T20I squad: Temba Bavuma (captain), Quinton de Kock, Reeza Hendricks, Heinrich Klaasen, Keshav Maharaj, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Wayne Parnell, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Rilee Rossouw, Tabraiz Shamsi, Tristan Stubbs.

13 of the 15 names from the T20I squad have made it to the ODI squad for the three-match series against India. Janneman Malan and Andile Phehlukwayo will be a part of the 50-over matches in places of Rilee Rossouw and Tristan Stubbs.
