Digicel Vanuatu National Under 19 Cricket captain and national player, Patrick Matautaava has played in Queensland crickets 2nd Division for the Sunshine Coast Scorchers an achievement that is a first for a Vanuatu cricketer. Matautaava scored 27 runs and whilst not taking any wickets bowled economically and impressed his new team mates.

"Big Pat" as he is called on the coast is a very good cricketer who is making steady progress with his cricket said Brad Murphy head coach of the Scorchers since arriving in January.

ANZ Vanuatu High Performance Manager Mark Coles said, "this was a great achievement for Patrick and Vanuatu Cricket. This shows we have talent in Vanuatu that is untapped; we will continue to push players toward New Zealand and Australian domestic competitions."

Matautaava leaves the coast on the 22nd to come home and will start his preparations for the East-Asia (EAP) division one competition in early July and also the Under 19 World cup Qualifier in Ireland starting late July.
